Male Or Female: Which Dog Is Better?
While choosing a puppy as your pet you might have to decide whether it is better to procure a male dog or a female dog. This depends on what you expect from the dog. The gender becomes unimportant when you give prime importance for the character and personality of the dog. This means that you have to decide based on the puppy’s behavior and action towards you and people around it at the time of seeing in the litter.

Choosing A Female Dog
Female dogs in general are relatively small in size but they exude a lot of warmth. Some breeds of male dogs are equally affectionate just like female dogs. Many dog breeders and trainers are of the opinion that homes with small kids should go in for female dogs. Certain people believe that female dogs are ideal and amiable for homes having small children because of their maternal instinct quality.
You should not get deterred from selecting a female dog because of their feminine problems of bleeding and heat cycles. In case you are afraid that the female dog might bleed anywhere and everywhere in the house it would be ideal for you to get the dog spayed. There will not be any bleeding of the dog once it is spayed. Female dogs’ behavior could be as challenging as that of the male dogs and there are times they could be more challenging.
Choosing A Male Dog
You might find that the male dogs require much more care than the female dogs at times. For example, the male dogs have a tendency to disappear at the time when the nearby female dog is in heat. This might be harmful to the dog and you could also get into problems. Male dogs are likely to get injured/ killed if they search for a female dog that is in heat. It is better if the male dogs also are spayed to avoid them getting caught under the moving vehicles or get into fight with other male dogs.
Male dog is very possessive about its properties; it could be its items inside the house, his bathroom as well as his female dog. If he thinks that another dog is trying to take away his property he becomes highly aggressive and starts fighting for his rights.
Male dogs have a tendency to urinate in its territories by lifting his leg to a high level. This is not a major problem as long as it does not take place inside your house.
The inherent energy levels of male dogs are quite high and hence playing with them is a lot of fun. Their activity level is high and they have much better endurance as compared to female dogs. This is main reason why male dogs are preferred for jobs in the law enforcement agencies.
